Tucked away in a little corner of Arroios, beneath enormous towers of apartments is Copo e Meio. Nestled amongst epic murals the bar is serving up a wide range of delectable small plates, with good wines and beers and is a real hit with the young and cool of Lisbon. We absolutely adore spending time here - even if we raise the average age of attendee by a decade.
With a hefty menu to choose from we sought to find a balance across all the major food groups. That being, of course: meat, bread, cheese. With the first pint ordered, the first plate to the table was the chicken wings. Perfectly fried crispy morsels with a soft-drink-sweet chilli sauce for dipping.

Next up to supplement the chicken, was the pork. Tuscan sausage fried with onions. The perfect bar snack to be honest. But in a sacrifice to Hygieia, we ordered the side salad. Full of fresh leaves and the juicy tomatoes which remain one of the single best reasons to live in Portugal.
After toying with the idea of ordering separate cheese and bread dishes, we eventually compromised and ordered the bread stuffed with cheese and chouriço, and with extra breads to dip into it. The fondue dos pobres, really is the devil's work. A decadent concoction of molten melted cheese mixed through with diced sausage only resisting entry through the gates of hell by its soft bread casing. The balsamic vinegar drizzle is a lovely artisic nuance to a battering ram of calorific hedonism.

Lastly, mindful of our lack of vegetarian choices (forgive us Hygieia), we only felt it appropriate to balance everything out with a delightful bowl of scrambled eggs over asparagus. The eggs being firm and silky and the asparagus fresh and crispy, it's not quite the same as running 10km, but you can pretend it is.
Copo e Meio is exactly what you want from an easy-going bar with food. Great with a group or with a partner, take your time to enjoy any and all of their amazing plates.
