Dois Corvos

For when you want good beer, good burgers and good vibes

Dois Corvos

If you've read a few reviews on here, you may have ascertained that since leaving the UK/reaching our mid-30's/living in a wine country, we are generally wine folk. Which is why it was noteworthy when a few weeks back one of us was really in the mood for beer. Not the customary Sagres. A really good craft beer.

There are lots of options for craft beer across Lisbon these days. You can check out our Cerveja Canil review if you're going to be around Marquês de Pombal, plus a big shout out should go to Cerveteca Lisboa if you're in the Roma/Areeiro area. But on this occasion we were closer to Intendente, which is how we found ourselves with a window table at the Dois Corvos taproom for beers and burgers.

First things first. When the mood strikes for a really good beer, atmosphere is an intrinsic part of the whole experience. So we were thrilled to discover lots of big wooden tables, a huge blackboard of beers, and plenty of space to settle in for a sesh. The lighting was cosy which made for a lovely autumn evening in Lisbon (but was less conducive to taking decent photos - see below. You'll get over it).

Second things second. We wanted to luxuriate in this particular beer and burger event, so a plate of '3 Amigos' - aka, the Portuguese snack trinity of tremoços, olives and barbecued nuts - was a wonderful grazer while we took our time perusing the menu and tucking into our delicious beers.

Then the main event: two cheese burgers, served with chips. The burger was pink and juicy, the cheese and pickle setting it off perfectly in a soft brioche bun. The chips were chunky and seasoned (with rosemary?) and the whole thing came with a special Dois Corvos sauce.

And really - what else is there? The beers were great, the burgers were great, the snacks were great, and the vibes were great. And if you are looking for more entertainment than those four vital components, then head down on the 2nd Wednesday of the month for an English-language pub quiz that you'll definitely enjoy.

Drinks: Don't be silly. Drink beer.

Don’t forget to order: The cheese burger (€11) was really blooming brilliant.
