This blog is increasingly turning into an extended love letter to the tascas of Lisbon. The casual familiarity, the hustle and bustle, the affordability and community. We heart tascas. But sometimes a special occasion calls for a special restaurant. And really, for that sort of thing, you can’t improve on a really good (really good) steak restaurant. It’s the drama that comes with it - the big red wine glasses, the big steak knives, the parading of the hunks of meat, maybe a cocktail to start, ideally in a dark and cosy corner where you can pretend you’re in 1980’s New York. If this is also your sort of thing, then you will love O Talho.
The service, the meat, the wine, and the setting are impeccable. We each went for a steak (obviously - chateaubriand and entrecôte. Both were perfection) with sides of a lettuce salad covered with nutty, crunchy bits and this outrageously delicious cheesy potato dish. The meat was sliced up at the table - more drama - and little surprises popped up throughout our evening. A jolly good place for a jolly good time.

Don’t forget to order: Let’s not be silly here. Get a steak.
